Terms of Service

BUNK (“BUNK”, “we”, “us”) operates a marketplace that connects hostels offering a place to stay with volunteerswilling to help out in exchange. These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you and BUNK and govern your access to and use of our website, apps and services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.

You must be at least 18 years old to use BUNK. When you sign up you choose an account type — hostel or volunteer — and you agree to provide accurate information and keep it current.

• You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
• Keep your password confidential; tell us promptly of any unauthorised use.
• One person or organisation may not maintain accounts to impersonate others or evade bans.

Hostels post opportunities describing the tasks, the perks, the expected hours and exactly where a volunteer will sleep. Volunteers browse and apply with a short message. When a hostel accepts an application, a private chat unlocks so the two sides can arrange the stay. After the stay, both sides may leave a public review.

BUNK is a venue, not a party to your arrangement. The agreement to host or to volunteer — including dates, duties, hours and any house rules — is made directly between the hostel and the volunteer. We do not employ volunteers, do not guarantee any placement, and are not responsible for the conduct, safety, legality or quality of any stay or work performed.

A BUNK arrangement is a non-monetary exchange of a few hours of help for accommodation. It is not a job, an employment contract, or a guarantee of wages, tips or benefits. Hostels and volunteers are solely responsible for complying with any local laws that apply to them — including immigration, visa, tax, insurance and labour rules. If you are unsure whether an arrangement is permitted where you are, seek your own advice before agreeing to it.

You keep ownership of the text, photos and other content you post. By posting, you grant BUNK a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service.

Reviews must be honest, first-hand accounts of a real stay. We may remove content that is false, defamatory, hateful, or that violates these terms, but we are not obligated to monitor or moderate everything posted.

You agree not to:

• Post false, misleading, illegal or infringing content, or impersonate anyone.
• Harass, threaten, discriminate against or endanger another user.
• Use BUNK to arrange anything unsafe, exploitative or unlawful.
• Circumvent our matching or chat to spam, scam or solicit users off-platform for abuse.
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, overload or otherwise interfere with the Service.

BUNK is currently free for both hostels and volunteers. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will make the pricing clear before you opt in, and any payment terms (including our Refund Policy) will apply to those features.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that listings are accurate, or that any stay or volunteer will meet your expectations. You use BUNK, and arrange and undertake any stay, at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BUNK and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising out of a stay, work performed, or any interaction between users. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, while the Service is free, is zero) or USD 100.

You may stop using BUNK and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, create risk for other users, or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including content licences, disclaimers and liability limits — will continue to apply.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use BUNK after changes take effect means you accept the revised terms.
