Refund Policy

The short version: BUNK is free and work-for-stay is a swap of time for a bed — so there’s normally nothing to refund. Here are the details, including how cancellations and any future paid features are handled.

01BUNK is free to use

BUNK is currently freefor both hostels and volunteers. We do not charge membership, listing, application or booking fees for the core marketplace. Because we don’t collect payments for the Service, there is generally nothing to refund.

02Work-for-stay is a non-monetary exchange

A BUNK arrangement trades a few hours of help for accommodation — no money changes hands through BUNK for the stay itself. We do not process payments between hostels and volunteers, hold deposits, or handle wages. As such, BUNK does not issue refunds for stays, cancelled arrangements, or work performed.

03Cancellations & changes

Plans change, and that’s okay. Either side may cancel a planned stay before it begins, and either side may end a stay early. We ask that you:

  • Communicate as early as possible through the in-app chat.
  • Be respectful of the other person’s time, travel and commitments.
  • Remember that a no-show or last-minute cancellation may be reflected in your public reviews.

04Disputes between users

Any disagreement about a stay, the hours worked, or the conditions provided is between the hostel and the volunteer to resolve directly, as set out in our Terms of Service. BUNK is not a party to your arrangement and cannot award compensation or refunds for it. We may, at our discretion, help by providing relevant account records or by acting on conduct that breaches our terms.

05If we add paid features

If BUNK introduces paid features in the future (for example, optional promotions or subscriptions), this policy will be updated with the specific refund terms for those products. Unless stated otherwise at the point of purchase:

  • Eligible refund requests must be made within 14 days of purchase.
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method.
  • Amounts already consumed (e.g. a promotion that has run) may be non-refundable.

We will always make the applicable terms clear before you pay.

06Changes to this policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version, and material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
